fun, awesome and semi intense read but kinda fell a little short of the first book It was still good but in certain parts it felt like it dragged for years Predictable to the point of me being about to know half of the events before they happened so yea not my favorite JLA book I ve read but still semi enjoyable to read, just wasn t amazing like all her other work It did have a bitcharacter building and back stories to all the ppl involved so that was a plus Tink is by This book was a fun, awesome and semi intense read but kinda fell a little short of the first book It was still good but enjoyable to read, just wasn t amazing like all her other work It did have a bitcharacter building and back stories to all the ppl involved so that was a plus Tink is by far my favorite in these books His witty snarky, caring not caring mainly to Ren and everyone else besides Ivy and Dixon mischievous, super smart mind, and his overall badassery when it s least expect makes him my favorite character to read about Ivy and Ren were cute and kickass as ever but certain parts of their relationship drama seemed forced and really unnecessary It got resolved in the end but when it wasn t resolved between those to it was boring, predictable and I wanted to shove both of them in a hat and drop kick them off of the closest and highest building possible because really needed to get a brain As for the awesome cute moments they were worth it when I did get to them so I guess that was a plus So for the character that was just evil, annoying and needs to go back to the Otherworld, preferably in a pine box, is Prince Drake That dude was conniving, ruthless, pretty sure he doesn t possess a heart and has a mind of a cool and collected psychopath Yea, not feeling any warm and fuzzies for the guy So I m exciteda bit for the 3rd book, Brave, but not exactly waiting at the edge of my seat for it 4.5 starsThere will be slight spoilers from the previous book in this review If a mission to go out and kill Fae living in the human world At the end of the previous book she was almost killed by the Fae Prince, until he discovered she is the halfling he has been looking for This secret throws Ivy and she has no idea who to trust with this information Because the Prince needs Ivy to create an apocalypse baby, and The Order wants the halfling dead Should Ivy tell her boyfriend, Ren, the man she loves Or keep it a secret and run Recently some of the stuff JLA has put out has been quite the miss for me, and I love her books So I was a bit scared going into this book that I wouldn t like it, but I needn t have worried Reading this book was like coming home I ADORED this book, so so much Eventhan the first book It was also easy to read this book despite reading Wicked two years ago.Ivy s struggles with who she was and what that meant pulled at my heart, I felt for the girl so much She was basically put in an impossible situation and I couldn t even figure out what she should do The Prince was creepy AF, and honestly gave me the shivers of ick.But my favorite part TINK That fairy man makes the book I want him to have his own book, I think it could easily be done This book was equal parts suspenseful, angsty, sweet and awesome I only hope that the next book really does release in summer of 2017 It was great seeing Ivy and Ren again and learningabout the fae I didn t love this one as much as the first book The beginning and middle were a little slow, but the ending was crazy and left me so excited for the next book, Brave. Spoilers for Wicked If you haven t read Wicked yet, you can read my review here I don t want to die Torn was an emotional ride that was filled with uncertainty and characters I absolutely loved It was everything I was hoping the second book would be and much, muchI was left on such a high and I truly can t wait for the release of the next book to see what happens with characters who have easily become favorites for me Each and every one of them has embedded themselves in my Spoilers for Wicked If you haven t read Wicked yet, you can read my review here I don t want to die Torn was an emotional ride that was filled with uncertainty and characters I absolutely loved It was everything I was hoping the second book would be and much, muchI was left on such a high and I truly can t wait for the release of the next book to see what happens with characters who have easily become favorites for me Each and every one of them has embedded themselves in my heart Ivy is someone who makes me want to be her best friend, Ren makes me want to steal him so he could do wicked things to me and I d love to carry Tink around in my purse all day so I could hear all of his crazy antics And I can t wait to see where their journey is going to go from here The hate building inside me burned brighter than a thousand suns, but even with that rage, I always, always felt cold With each passing day, it was like I was filling up on the inside with ice and shadows The only time I didn t feel this way was when I slept I felt nothing then The horror, uncertainty and utter shock that Ivy felt upon learning that she was the halfling crippled me I knew that she made the most sense in the back of my mind, but I was truly hoping that Val would be the halfling Even if that wasn t very logical I just couldn t believe that after she finally opened herself up to friendship and possibly love with Ren, that she was slapped right in the face Because the man she had fallen for had been sent there to kill her I should ve never gotten close to him While Ivy vacillated in telling Ren the truth about what she was, I completely understood her internal struggle If she told him the truth, what would he do Turn her in, be the one to kill her or would he just leave since history was repeating itself It was such a hard decision, and while I started to struggle with her keeping secrets and the truth from Ren, that issue quickly disappeared in my eyes Why Because Torn took a dive into a dangerous, twisted area that quickly had me rooting for Ivy and being her biggest fan You can fight this all you want, but I know the game and the rules, he said , and my stomach roiled as his icy breath coasted over my cheek I know how this ends, little bird And trust me, you will be consenting sooner than you realize The Prince Speaking of twisted, can I say how much I hate the Prince Well, hmm, actually that s not entirely true hides face while I make this confession Yes he s creepy and wants to impregnate Ivy so the gates from the Otherworld remain open so he can take over the mortal world But at times I found him amusing And I truly don t know what that says about me at all because the prince was sick and twisted You see, he had this weird sense of humor and would say and do things that made him appear in a different light I know that it s probably because he s a psychopath and I know without a shadow of doubt not to trust him but his personality had these blue moon moments In those moments he was entertaining But then he would do stuff that quickly had him nose diving into the oh I hope you die category I loved that the Prince was a complex character that made me second guess my hatred for him but then had me spiralling back into the rallying behind his death On a side note, I hope Breena dies too I know you ll agree with me As I exited the bedroom, I hit the switch and turned on the fan, grinning when he shrieked That was screwed up he shouted as he was flung across the room Tink Ivy Thank goodness Ivy had Tink in her life though, because he was a constant No matter how ridiculous he could be And trust me, he definitely strays from the bounds of being normal lol But I loved that Ivy had a male best friend who was from the Otherworld There s so, so, so much I want to say about Tink But I can t because of huge spoilers But just know that while I guessed for one thing to be true, the other one I wasn t even close At all Let s just say that I stared at the page open mouthed while trying not to gasp Or maybe laugh I can t tell you which Yeah I desperately need someone to talk to about that But besides loving Tink interacting with Ivy, I freaking adored Tink and Ren s interactions because those moments were always explosive, hilarious and over the top My fingers curled around the top of my dress as I stared blankly at the tile floor I didn t know who I was any My breath caught in my chest How did I not talk about Ren yet After reading Wicked and now Torn, I truly believe that wicked is the perfect word for describing Ren He is constantly exploding sexuality and I just wanted to crawl into the book and steal him for myself His looks, his touches, his words everything he does seduces me, um I mean Ivy And while my heart did break for him as the story unfolded, he proved himself to be the badass sexy fighter that I have easily come to love I m gonna kill her My hands trembled as I let the bra slip to the floor I m gonna kill her I kept repeating those words as I slipped off my undies So now I patiently wait for the next book The ending of Torn is much, much easier to handle then Wicked, who s ending left me feeling like my heart had been ripped out of my chest Although I do love that feeling, since I m glutton for feeling deep emotions in a book But I can t wait to readabout my favorite characters Come on 2017 Quotes were taken from ARCARC kindly provided by Jennifer L Armentrout via Inkslinger PR in exchange for an honest reviewForof my reviews, please visit So, I m a bit torn over this book pun intended because although I did enjoy it it s JLA, so come on like and there were loads of things I loved about it Ren and Tink anyone there were a few niggly issues which stopped me engaging in my usual gush fest things that prevented me from rating this a five star read But I ll start with the good stuff I loved how Ivy behaved in this book She gets on with things, refusing to be seen as altered or injured or weak, and she never indulges in self So, I m a bit torn over this book pun altered or injured or weak, and she never indulges in self pity She wants to take control and deal with things head on Rock on Ivy.Ren is still a hot, sexy, sweet guy and I totally ship him with Ivy Yes, he lost his way a little but I forgave him because he recovered spectacularly I enjoyed the romantic scenes between our couple even if they were a bit scant overall.TINK Omg, I loved Tink in Wicked but he s even better in this And that revelation ha, ha Genius The scene where he is outed is hysterically funny and I was chuckling away to myself. The latter scenes involving the Prince were awesome Creepy, a bit debauched and depraved, but awesome all the same And I want to help Ivy string that Breena Breana one up What I love the most about this book and this is classic JLA is the witty banter between Ivy and Ren, Ivy and Tink, and Tink and Ren Plenty of laugh out loud moments. The writing is superb as usual, the characters are well developed, and the world building was decent.Probably the biggest issue I had was with the actual storyline It was too predictable and there wasn t enough happening to drive the plot forward Certain aspects of the story lacked depth, in my opinion, and I wonder how well they would hold up todetailed scrutiny I could be specific but I don t want to give away any spoilers so I ll say noI also felt the pacing was off which I was most surprised at because Jennifer s books are almost always perfectly paced with a mix of action and romance that flows consistently I actually struggled to get into the first twenty percent of this book and I was starting to get bored Thankfully, it picked up after that and it became a non issue thereafter Overall, Torn was still a good read it just didn t blow my mind in the way most of Jen s books do But I m still very invested in this series because I love Ivy, Ren, and Tink, and I want to find out how the story concludes If you enjoyed Wicked, and you are a fan of Jennifer s, then you ll most likely enjoy it Actual rating 3.5 StarsThis review will appear on my blog in due course to Jennifer and her publicist, Kelly Simmon, for providing an ARC of this book in exchange for my honest review Couple days later and I m still not over how totally disappointed this book left me The first problem was the language of the characters, immature I felt as if I was reading about a slightly older version of Alex from Half Blood The setting did nothing for me and it took me forever to get through half of this book.To be honest, it wasn t interesting in the least There isn t a single part that I can say captivated me, not a single character that intrigued me, nothing. Can t believe I m saying Couple days later and I m still not over how totally disappointed this book left me The first problem but it was just boring What s worse is how long I had to wait for this book and now, I almost wish I hadn t read it I m crushed right now J L Armentrout is one of my favourite authors This has to be the least favourite of her novels for me Actual rating 3.5 stars.I quite liked it Very entertaining.Wicked A Wicked Trilogy 1 Brave A Wicked Trilogy 3 Actual rating 3.5 stars.I quite liked it Very entertaining.Wicked A Wicked Trilogy 1 Brave A Wicked Trilogy 3 1.7 so annoyed stars Oh dear Lady am I biased I m so unsure about what I should think When I started this book I was hyperconscious of the last book I read by Jennifer and how that turned out to be a true disappointment So I didn t want to go ahead and tear this book apart while reading it and what do you know I didn t like it.I don t know if this is me realizing how similar all her books are and how unable I was to set apart her narratives Like, Ivy s voice is so similar to Kat s 1.7 so annoyed stars Oh dear Lady am I biased I m Like, Ivy s voice is so similar to Kat s from her Lux series and to Alex s from her Covenant series and that s a problem I don t know if it s because that s the way she writes her paranormal fantasy stuff but it bothered me this time.Ivy was so annoying and immature and, for the love of me, so your typical badass wannabe I liked her in the first book or at least I think I liked her but this was just ridiculous I get it, girl, you re the halfing and you re everything you ve been fighting against to your whole life and the guy you love was sent to hunt you and put you down but would it kill you to be a bit smarter about it Torn was so cheesy and clich and something I ve already read a hundred times before The plot was so meh and you could see those twists coming from a mile I didn t have any sympathy for the MC s.I didn t like Ren and I found myself wanting to readabout the rest of the characters rather than having these two MC s being dramatic, and just when shit started to get better and there was so heavy building and you could taste it, this action packed moment the love interest appears to save the day Yay.You know what I want to read about I want to read about the courts and how these good fae changed bands and how they kept hidden and I liked the whole fantasy structure but Ivy messed things up for me I was constantly skipping through the pages because it was so predictable I swear, I could tell how this book was going to end and who were the goods and bad guys and that annoyed me.I don t want to bash on this book nor do I want to say this book is a complete crap but I can t sugarcoat how I feel about this book and Jennifer I think she either improves her storytelling or stops recycling her characters, plot, etc or she will, sadly, fade in time and become mediocre and that d be a shame because for years I ve loved Jennifer and her books but now everything is so weird and sad between us Okay I am been literally annoyed by the SAVE THE WORLD
